About LREI Property Management
We are incredibly thankful for the people, and success of LREI, and whether you’re a tenant, investor or
realtor, we hope to count you as one of our future success stories! Starting small in August 2017, we had
no idea that we would grow as fast and strong as we did.
We now manage more than 200 properties with a team that still feels like family. We’re not shy about this
success because it’s driven by our philosophy to help people and provide exceptional service.
The LREI Story
LREI began in 2003 when Owner and founder Clay Smith and Stephanie Smith purchased their first
rental property. In 2017 they set out to create a property management company that offered valuable
service at an affordable price that owners can trust in.
The original idea for developing a Louisville property management company came to through experience
managing real estate without systems and teams. Having heard horror stories of companies that were
impossible to reach, return voicemails a week later, or send an email instead of calling. Companies
had extensive repair costs and a terrible track record for keeping tenants. When they needed to delegate
management of their 30 properties and free up time to start a company they decided to start their own company.
The industry needed professionals who offered great customer service, honesty and a strong work ethic.
LREI was created from this initial dream. Since then, the company has grown to manage 200 properties in
just one year because of client referrals and proven track record. The secret recipe is great systems where
nothing falls through the cracks and an enthusiastic staff who loves property management.
The owners of LREI have been investing since 2003 and pride themselves as leaders in our local real estate market
and the property management community. They are active members of KREIA (Kentuckiana Real Estate Investor Association)
community and stay current on the latest property management industry trends.

Clay Smith » Owner
Clay is a former US Marine Military Policeman. He has a Bachelor Degree in Business Management and
an MBA from Sullivan University. In addition, Clay is a certified Project Management Professional
(PMP), Six Sigma Green Belt Certified, and LEAN process leader. He is also a board member of the
Kentuckiana Real Estate Investors Association. An avid investor and rehabber, he is a licensed
contractor and bought and sold over 200 real estate investments.
Grace Cox » Accounts Payable
Grace has worked in the banking industry and most recently joined LREI handling Accounts Payable and general bookkeeping.
Stephanie Smith » Office Manager
Stephanie has a Bachelor Degree in Business Management and is certified in Dispute Resolution
from Sullivan University. She has 8 years of professional recruiting experience and is a
Certified Internet Recruiter.
Vanessa Vasquez » Administrative Assistant
Vanessa has worked as a professional administrative assistant for several years. She joined LREI in 2017 and handles eviction coordination, late pay notification, responds to potential resident inquiries and monitors email communications.
Travis Johnson » Property Manager
Travis lives in Bardstown, KY. A Louisville native, Travis worked in Commercial Roofing and Sales. He is married with two young kids. Travis handles investigative issues, move-ins, inspections, and problem solving resident related issues.
David Bennett » Property Manager
David has worked in real estate as owner/landlord, as Leasing Representative and Property Manager. He holds a BA from University of Louisville and is a graduate of Weikel Real Estate School. David earned Professional Residential Property Manager Certification in October 2017. He is a member of Kentuckiana Real Estate Investors Association.
Joe Hendrickson » Maintenance Crew Lead
Joe has worked in maintenance and remodeling for over 30 years. He is knowledgeable and skilled with great attention to detail and gets the job done right.
Kim Evans » Maintenance Coordinator
Kim has 20+ years of experience in the Customer Service Industry. In addition,
she has experience as a small business owner and attended college in pursuit
of a degree in education.
Garry Goldsmith » Maintenance Supervisor
Garry has worked in maintenance and remodeling for over 30 years. He has owned contracting companies installing kitchens, windows, roofing, siding, gutters, and more. Garry lives in Mt Washington, KY.
